Urbanhound.com - Best Pet Portrait artists 2006 - 2007

Urbanhound.com is an online Community portal and pet resource web site which, on a regional level, currently serves the dog-friendly cities of NYC, Chicago and San Francisco. Urbanhound.com recently came out with a very select list of their pick of the Best Pet Portraitists in the country, and I am extremely honored to be chosen and reviewed on their list! I am also very honored to be in such excellent company - other artists on their list include the prolific illustrator Mark Ulriksen (over 20 New Yorker covers!!), as well as the author of a book which I personally own and love ("Hello Kitty Everywhere", a wonderful book!), Kate Williamson.

JANUARY '05:

Kathy Weller Pet Portraiture was chosen as PamperedPuppy.com's Pick of the Month for January, 2005. (Reprinted with permission from Pampered Puppy)

You know, it's pretty rare when you see Merry and I choose something as pick of the month that isn't a bowl, a bed, or a piece of clothing. Maybe it's that we're feeling a little overwhelmed with the shopping and buying and fetching and wrapping that the Christmas season usually entails (pun intended) around our house.

But when we saw Kathy Weller's stunning pet portraiture, we just had to make it pick of the month. Her art - including custom commissioned work, so you can get your own! - is quirky, it's fun, and it's a welcome change from the traditional "master"-style oil paintings we see so often in commissioned works of art.
Kathy's work is lovely. You really should see it for yourself:
